  • Description

Enhance your rooftops allure with the exquisite copper verdigris Victorian arrow weathervane, a stunning and practical addition that elevates your roof's aesthetics. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail and weathered to a captivating copper verdigris patina, this weathervane boasts a unique decorative accent. The adjustable ridge tile fitting ensures seamless installation and is offered on a variety of angles.

The Victorian arrow weathervane goes beyond mere ornamentation it excels in its functional role. The elegantly perched Victorian arrow moves gracefully with the wind, providing an enchanting and practical indication of wind direction. While terracotta remains a popular choice for ridge tiles, we offer a range of colour options to match your preferences.

You may wonder why we opt for a ridge tile fitting instead of a bracket. The answer lies in preserving your roof's waterproof integrity. Traditional bracket installations often involve drilling holes in the roof, which can compromise its watertightness. In contrast, the Victorian arrow weathervane installation is straightforward and secure, as the ridge tile fitting is expertly mounted with mortar.

For added versatility and stability, we include a mechanical fix fitting in the form of an adjustable metal strap. This robust strap can be securely fastened with screws, nails, or by securing onto part of the roof. Once the metal strap is in place, it seamlessly disappears from view during the ridge base mortar installation, ensuring a stable and low hassle setup.

Whether your structure features a gable end, a shed, a workshop, or a summer cottage, the Victorian arrow ridge weathervanes are suitable for any roof type. They also double as charming garden ornaments, adding a touch of elegance and uniqueness to your outdoor space. Elevate your home's exterior with the Victorian arrow weathervane for a distinctive and captivating look.

  • How to fit and install

There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:

    Traditional mortar bedding:

Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.

Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:

For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.

    Dry fixing:

Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please get in touch with us to determine if this finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
