Stag weathervane fixed to a half round ridge tile
- Description
This weathervane of a steel stag would look great on any roof. This steel weathervane is a beautiful and unique roof ornament that can be affixed to the rooftop. It comes on a half round ridge tile and serves a functional purpose, improving the roof's aesthetics.
A majestic stag tops this fully functional weathervane, turning in the wind to point in its direction. This dynamic component enhances the roof's aesthetic appeal and individuality. The standard terracotta colour of the half round ridge tile fitting ensures that it will blend in perfectly with the roof. But we also have a variety of other colours and finishes available to meet your needs and preferences.
The dimensions are as follows:
Complete height is 34.3", or 86cm.
Dimensions (from widest to tallest point): 10" (24cm), 12" (30cm), 8" (20.5cm) for a half round ridge base.
One might wonder why not just use a bracket to mount the weathervane? The installer's worries are the key to the solution. Drilling holes and installing brackets can be stressful if you're concerned about water seepage through your roof and or other associated issues and costs. This stag weathervane requires minimal effort and time to set up.
The half round ridge tile fitting is simple to install on the roof and requires only mortar for installation. There is an optional metal strap can be used to mechanically secure the weathervane if desired. This flexible strap has multiple holes for secure attachment via screws, nails, or other means, and can be uncoiled and cut to fit any roof. Installers can later hide the metal strap when they lay the mortar bed for the ridge base. When attaching the ridge, you can rest easy thanks to this metal strap.
Customers can put these stag ridge weathervanes on any roof they want in theory, be it a gable, hip, house, cottage, shed, workshop, or summerhouse. In addition to its use as a roofing material, it can also be installed in gardens for purely aesthetic reasons. It's a great option for adding a unique focal point and elaborate design to any rooftop or outdoor area.
- How to fit and install
There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:
Traditional mortar bedding:
Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:
For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.
Dry fixing:
Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please get in touch with us to determine if this finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
