  • Description

    The ridge tile accompanying this beautiful banner weathervane is set at a 45 degree angle. This weathervane, made of polished copper, is an attractive and practical addition to any roof. The way its banner turns in the breeze is a charming indicator of the direction of the wind. Although our standard ridge tile colour is terra cotta, we also provide a variety of other colours and finishes.

    This weathervane stands tall on a ridge base that is 12 inches (296mm) in length and 9 inches (225mm) in width, and it has an impressive overall height of 31.5 inches (80cm).

    Rather than using a bracket, why go with this weathervane?

    People are often discouraged from drilling holes in or attaching brackets to the roof or its interior out of concern for the roof's waterproofing. However, this banner weathervane is incredibly simple and easy to set up. The 45 degree ridge tile can be securely attached to the roof with mortar. In addition, a strong yet adaptable metal strap can be used to mechanically secure the weathervane. This strap has a number of holes that make it possible to fasten it securely to the roof, and it can be cut to size as needed. The metal strap can be covered up by the mortar as it is applied to the ridge base, giving the builders the option to hide the strap as they install the weather vane

  • How to fit and install

    There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:

    Traditional mortar bedding:

    Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.

    Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:

    For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.

    Dry fixing:

    Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar.     APC Courier tracked and signed for delivery to England and Wales UK Mainland is included in the price for all products

    Delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays. Sometimes if the delivery is local to our Workshop we may also opt to deliver using our own transport

    When the order is ready we contact each customer to arrange a convenient delivery day

    We make all products to order so there is a lead time associated for manufacturing, curing time and delivery. If you order multiples of the same product, need colour matched or special order items please allow extra lead time. If there are extreme weather events or other circumstances beyond our control this may affect the lead time

  • Product Performance & Quality

    The ridge tile is British Kitemarked, which is a certified industry standard for quality. All products are made in accordance with British Standard versions (BS EN 490: 2004 and BS EN 491: 2004). The ridge fitting is made from a concrete based mix reinforced with small fiberglass strands and additives, with several top coats applied to give its final appearance. The colour of the finial runs all the way through the piece resulting in a strong and long lasting product
