  • Description

    The Polished Copper Banner Weathervane is a beautiful piece that was made to be easy to put up on your roof. This fancy weathervane has a banner that turns gracefully with the wind to show which way the wind is blowing. Made of polished copper, it is a beautiful and unique roof decoration that adds to the roof's overall look.

    This weathervane stands an impressive 31 inches (79 cm) tall and is attached to a half-round roof tile for a secure and smooth fit. The standard colour for the ridge base is terracotta, but you can also choose from a number of other colours and finishes.

    Why take the trouble to put a bracket up? Our banner weathervane is an easy way to do something else. Traditional methods of installation, like drilling holes and attaching brackets to the roof or inside the roof space, can be a problem because they make the roof less waterproof. Installing our banner weathervane, on the other hand, is easy and quick.

    Using traditional mortar, the half-round roof tile fitting is easy to put on the roof, making the process smooth and easy. The weathervane also has a flexible metal strap that can be used as a mechanical way to hold it in place. This strong strap can be unwound and cut to size, and it has a series of holes that make it easy to attach to the roof. It can be screwed in, nailed down, or held in place in some other way.

    Rest assured that the metal strap can be hidden while the ridge base is being put in place by using traditional mortar. This extra feature gives both the installer and the customer peace of mind. Our banner ridge weathervanes can be put on gable ends, hip ends, houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and summer houses, among other roof types. Also, they are versatile enough that they can be put in gardens to look pretty.

  • How to fit and install

    There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:

    Traditional mortar bedding:

    Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.

    Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:

    For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.

    Dry fixing:

    Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar.     APC Courier tracked and signed for delivery to England and Wales UK Mainland is included in the price for all products

    Delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays. Sometimes if the delivery is local to our Workshop we may also opt to deliver using our own transport

    When the order is ready we contact each customer to arrange a convenient delivery day

    We make all products to order so there is a lead time associated for manufacturing, curing time and delivery. If you order multiples of the same product, need colour matched or special order items please allow extra lead time. If there are extreme weather events or other circumstances beyond our control this may affect the lead time

  • Product Performance & Quality

    The ridge tile is British Kitemarked, which is a certified industry standard for quality. All products are made in accordance with British Standard versions (BS EN 490: 2004 and BS EN 491: 2004). The ridge fitting is made from a concrete based mix reinforced with small fiberglass strands and additives, with several top coats applied to give its final appearance. The colour of the finial runs all the way through the piece resulting in a strong and long lasting product
