Golfer weathervane supplied on a square roof tile capping
- Description
Featuring a square roof tile capping, this steel golfer weathervane will make a great focal point atop your home's roof. This golfer weathervane is made of steel and turns in the wind to point in the direction of the breeze. In addition to the standard terracotta, we also provide the ridge tile fitting in a variety of other colours and finishes.
This golfer weathervane will look great on the roof, it has a total height of 34.2 inches (87cm), a square ridge base measuring 12 inches (30cm) by 12 inches (30cm), and a height of 11 inches (28cm).
Why not just use a bracket to mount the weathervane?
It can be difficult for roofers, as the roof's watertight integrity may be compromised, to install brackets on the roof or inside the roof space. The installation of this golfer themed weather vane, however, couldn't be easier. The fitting, which resembles a square roof tile capping, is attached to the roof with mortar for a quick and easy setup. The weathervane also has a mechanical fix fitting in the form of a metal strap, should you prefer. You can unwind this sturdy yet adaptable strap and cut it to the length you need. It has several screw, nail, or attachment holes, so it can be attached to the roof in various ways. As the mortar bed for the ridge base is applied, the metal strap can be concealed. The metal strap gives you peace of mind and extra support as you put it in place.
These golfer ridge weathervanes are adaptable to a wide range of roof shapes and sizes, allowing them to be installed on anything from a flat roof to a pyramid roof or even a tower. They can serve multiple purposes, and one of those is as an ornamental addition to a garden. This weathervane is a fantastic addition to any roof because it allows you to showcase elaborate design elements.
- How to fit and install
There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:
Traditional mortar bedding:
Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:
For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.
Dry fixing:
Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please get in touch with us to determine if this finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
