  • Description

    The Steel Fish Weathervane is a beautiful piece that is made of steel and is the perfect way to add a unique and eye-catching decoration to your roof. As the wind blows, the weathervane's fish turns gracefully in the direction of the breeze.

    It might normally seem hard to put up a weathervane because you have to drill holes or put brackets on the roof or inside the roof space. But installing this Steel Fish Weathervane is very easy and doesn't take much time. The weathervane comes on a round ridge tile capping that is easy to put on the roof with mortar. This usual way of installing makes sure that the process is easy and in addtion we also offer a flexible metal strap that can be used to fix things mechanically. The strong, bendable strap can be taken out of its coil and cut to fit your needs. The strap has a number of holes that make it easy to attach it to the roof with screws, nails, or any other way that works.

    Once the metal strap is firmly attached, the installer can use a traditional mortar bed to hide it, keeping the weathervane's decorative appeal. The Steel Fish Weathervane has a level of versatility that is unmatched. It can be put on turrets, towers, flat roofs, round roofs, circular roofs, or even a garden structure as a beautiful creative piece. It is easy to install, which makes it a good choice if you want to improve the look of your roof.

    Height as a whole: 31.5" (80cm)
    Ridge Base: The ridge base is round with a width of 12" (30cm) and a height of 10" (24cm).

    Please note that the usual colour of the ridge tile fitting is terracotta, but we also have other colours and finishes to meet your needs.

  • How to fit and install

    There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:

    Traditional mortar bedding:

    Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.

    Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:

    For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.

    Dry fixing:

    Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar.     APC Courier tracked and signed for delivery to England and Wales UK Mainland is included in the price for all products

    Delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays. Sometimes if the delivery is local to our Workshop we may also opt to deliver using our own transport

    When the order is ready we contact each customer to arrange a convenient delivery day

    We make all products to order so there is a lead time associated for manufacturing, curing time and delivery. If you order multiples of the same product, need colour matched or special order items please allow extra lead time. If there are extreme weather events or other circumstances beyond our control this may affect the lead time

  • Product Performance & Quality

    The ridge tile is British Kitemarked, which is a certified industry standard for quality. All products are made in accordance with British Standard versions (BS EN 490: 2004 and BS EN 491: 2004). The ridge fitting is made from a concrete based mix reinforced with small fiberglass strands and additives, with several top coats applied to give its final appearance. The colour of the finial runs all the way through the piece resulting in a strong and long lasting product
