    Attached to a double arched, 45 degree angled ridge tile, this weathervane depicts a labrador dog and comes in a genuine copper verdigris finish. You can use it to add a unique and eye catching finial to the peak of your roof. This fully functional labrador weathervane will gracefully rotate in the wind, providing an attractive visual representation of the prevailing wind. While our standard ridge tile is terra cotta in colour, we also provide a number of other tile colours and finish

    This beautiful weather vane has the following dimensions:

    Height overall is 34 inches (87 cm), the ridge base is 12 inches (296 mm) in length and 9 inches (225 mm) in width, the base is a 45 degree angle tile

    You may be wondering why not just use regular old brackets.

    The roof's watertightness could be jeopardised during standard bracket installation. This technique requires making holes and attaching brackets on the roof or inside the building. On the other hand, putting up this dog weathervane requires little effort. The double arched, 45 degree ridge tile fitting is designed to be easily affixed to the roof using mortar, guaranteeing a secure installation without adding unnecessary complexity. Additionally, a mechanical fix fitting is included in the form of an adaptable metal strap. You can adjust the length of this sturdy and malleable strap to suit your needs, it has a number of predrilled holes so you can attach it to your roof in a variety of ways (screws, nails, or other fixing methods). The metal strap can be tucked out of sight and hidden as the ridge base is set in place on a traditional mortar bed

  • How to fit and install

    There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:

    Traditional mortar bedding:

    Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.

    Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:

    For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.

    Dry fixing:

    Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar.     APC Courier tracked and signed for delivery to England and Wales UK Mainland is included in the price for all products

    Delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays. Sometimes if the delivery is local to our Workshop we may also opt to deliver using our own transport

    When the order is ready we contact each customer to arrange a convenient delivery day

    We make all products to order so there is a lead time associated for manufacturing, curing time and delivery. If you order multiples of the same product, need colour matched or special order items please allow extra lead time. If there are extreme weather events or other circumstances beyond our control this may affect the lead time

  • Product Performance & Quality

    The ridge tile is British Kitemarked, which is a certified industry standard for quality. All products are made in accordance with British Standard versions (BS EN 490: 2004 and BS EN 491: 2004). The ridge fitting is made from a concrete based mix reinforced with small fiberglass strands and additives, with several top coats applied to give its final appearance. The colour of the finial runs all the way through the piece resulting in a strong and long lasting product
