Cockerel weathervane supplied on a half round roof ridge
- Description
The polished copper cockerel weathervane is a beautiful addition to your roof that will make it look better. This decorative and ornate weathervane is made with careful attention to every detail, giving any building a touch of elegance. It has a polished copper finish that gives it a timeless beauty that will draw people in.
This weathervane has an impressive overall height of 33" (84cm) and comes on a half round roof ridge that fits in perfectly with your roofline. Its ridge base, which is 10" (24cm) wide, 12" (30cm) long, and 8" (20.5cm) tall, makes sure that it fits perfectly.
What makes this weathervane stand out is how easy it is to put up. Our cockerel weathervane makes the process easier than other options that require drilling holes and putting brackets in place. The fitting, which is in the shape of a half round roof ridge, can be easily put on the roof using traditional mortar, making the process simple and easy.
The weathervane has a metal strap mechanism that makes it even easier to put up. This strong and flexible strap is easy to unwind and cut to the right length. It has a number of holes so that screws, nails, or other suitable fasteners can be used to attach it to the roof structure. Once the strap is in place and secure, the ridge base can be put on top of it using traditional mortar. This will hide the strap and make the roof look like one piece.
This weathervane is not only useful because the cockerel turns gracefully in the wind to show the direction of the wind, but it also makes a beautiful focal point on your roof. Its polished copper finish catches the light and makes a stunning effect that will wow anyone who looks at it.
This versatile weathervane is easy to put up on a gable end, hip end, house, cottage, shed, workshop, or summer house roof. Also, it looks good on more than just roofs because you can put it in your garden as an ornament.
Choose the polished copper cockerel weathervane and enjoy how it makes your roof look nice, works well, and is simple. The installation process is easy and will give you peace of mind and a beautiful addition to your home or garden.
- How to fit and install
There are several ways to install roof finials, as outlined below:
Traditional mortar bedding:
Roof finials can be installed following the same method used for ridge tiles, utilising standard mortar bedding. In cases where the finial is tall or heavy, or if enhanced stability is desired, an additional mechanical fix method can be employed alongside the mortar bed installation.
Mechanical fixing strap and mortar bedding:
For this type of install, a galvanized metal strap is included, discreetly fastened to the underside of the finial ridge base during manufacturing. This durable and flexible metal strap can be adjusted in length by cutting it down to size. Featuring a series of holes, the strap can be screwed, nailed, or embedded in mortar to anchor it to a section of the roof structure. After securing the metal strap, installers can conceal it from sight by applying traditional mortar bed. The mortar used to join the finial with adjacent ridge tiles effectively conceals the strap, resulting in a seamless and neat appearance.
Dry fixing:
Another approach to affixing finials to the roof involves the dry fixing method. This technique involves using a specific manufacturer's dry fixing system, typically incorporating brackets or alternative mechanical fasteners to attach ridge tiles and finials to the roof without the use of mortar. If you are considering a dry fix ridge system, please get in touch with us to determine if this finial design can be adapted to be compatible with your chosen system.
